Philippines vs Japan in 2015 FIBA Asia
FIRST QUARTER
Gilas was able to lead 14-7 but they continued to miss shots and Japan was able to stick and grab the lead 16-14 through the three-point conversion of Makoto Hiejima.
Japan led 18-14 at the end of first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
Andray Blatche fell on the floor in pain holding his injured ankle and was limping on his feet, he went back to the bench with 7:21 left in the quarter, and was substituted by Asi Taulava.
Japan was able to extend their lead 29-19 but Norwood made a basket cutting the edge to 7 points, 29-22. Then after few possesions Ranidel Ocampo made a shot, and Japan called a timeout, score 29-24.
Jason Castro tied the score 29-all with a lay up straight to the hoop.
Blatche returned to the court blocking Takeuchi with less than a minute left in the quarter then Abueva was fouled going to the basket then he took two charities and gives back the lead to the Philippines, 33-31, but Japan made a basket in the next possesion, score 33-all. Gilas called a time out with more or less 6.2 ticks left on the clock then Romeo drived towards the rim and converted.
Gilas was on top at the half, 35-33.
THIRD QUARTER
The score was 37-all with 7:28 left on the 3rd quarter, but De Ocampo was fouled and took freethrows wherein he made made one, 38-37.
Romeo had a triple on the left corner increasing their lead 52-43.
Gilas was still on top coming to the fourth quarter 54-46.
FOURTH QUARTER
De Ocampo made his freethrows with 6:18 left in the ball game, and Philippines was up by 3, 57-54.
Andrey Blatche scored, 64-61, but Matsumoto scored in the rainbow territory tying the game 64-all in the crunch time then De Ocampo answered back with his own three in the following possesion, Gilas regained the lead 67-64.
Philippines won 73-66.
